Simple machine (gear) - JSS2 Basic science Lesson Note
A gear is a simple machine that consists of two or more toothed wheels that interlock and transmit motion or power. Gears are designed to change the speed, torque, or direction of a mechanical system. They come in various shapes and sizes, with different types such as spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, and worm gears.
Gears work on the principle of meshing teeth, where the rotation of one gear causes the other gear(s) it is connected to, to rotate. This transfer of motion allows gears to amplify or reduce speed, increase or decrease torque, or change the direction of rotation.
