Legislature: Law-making body responsible for enacting statutes and regulations that define legal rights and obligations, such as parliament or congress.
Executive: Branch of government responsible for implementing and enforcing laws, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and executive agencies.
Judiciary: Independent branch of government responsible for interpreting and applying the law, adjudicating disputes, and upholding the rule of law through courts of law and judicial processes.
Law Enforcement Agencies: Agencies tasked with enforcing laws and maintaining public order, including police departments, investigative agencies, and specialized law enforcement units.
Six law enforcement agencies in Nigeria include:
- Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
- Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
- Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
- National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
- Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
- Nigerian Customs Service (NCS)
