Using Log and Antilog to computer squares and square roots - SS2 Mathematics Lesson Note

Example 5 Solve \(76^{2}\) and \(\sqrt{456}\) using logarithms

Solutions

  1. \(\log 76^{2} = 2\log 76 = 2 \times 1.8808 = 3.7616\). Hence, \(antilog\ 3.7616 = 5776\)

  • \(\log\sqrt{456} = \log 456^{\frac{1}{2}} = \ \frac{\log 456}{2} = \ \frac{2.6590}{2} = 1.3295\). Hence, \(antiolog\ 1.3295 = 21.35\)
