Dear Workshop Organiser,

I am writing to share feedback on the weekend photography workshop I attended at the Riverside Community Arts Centre last Saturday and Sunday. Overall, I found it a very useful and enjoyable course, and I appreciate the effort your team made to support beginners like me.

The part I enjoyed most was the practical street-photography session on Saturday afternoon. The tutor explained camera settings clearly and then gave us time to practise in small groups, which helped me understand how aperture and shutter speed work in real situations. I also liked the friendly atmosphere, as participants were encouraged to discuss each other's work in a positive way.

One difficulty, however, was that there were not enough charging points in the classroom. Several participants, including me, needed to recharge camera batteries during the lunch break, but only two sockets were available, so some people could not continue the afternoon session properly.

For future workshops, I would suggest either providing extension leads or advising participants in advance to bring fully charged spare batteries. This small change would make the practical sessions run more smoothly.

Local governments often face difficult decisions about where limited public funds should be allocated. Two common priorities are improving sports facilities, such as community gyms and playing fields, and upgrading public transport systems. Both can benefit residents, but in my view transport improvements should come first because they have a broader daily impact, while investment in sport should remain an important secondary goal.

Those who support spending on sports facilities argue that easy access to affordable exercise spaces can improve public health. If people have nearby places to play football, swim, or attend fitness classes, they are more likely to stay active. This can reduce obesity and long-term pressure on health services. In many neighbourhoods, especially lower-income areas, private gyms are too expensive, so public facilities can make healthy living more inclusive.

However, proponents of transport investment point out that buses, trains, and cycle routes affect almost every part of urban life. Reliable public transport helps workers reach jobs on time, students attend school, and older residents access essential services. It can also reduce traffic congestion and air pollution by lowering dependence on private cars. In my city, for example, a new express bus corridor cut commuting times significantly, which encouraged many people to leave their cars at home.

Overall, both priorities are worthwhile, but transport should receive the larger share of funding because it supports mobility, economic activity, and environmental goals for the whole population. Once a dependable transport network is in place, councils can then expand community sports facilities to strengthen public health further.
