The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has held its 2024 policy meeting and set the cut-off marks for university admissions. This year, important updates include the approved cut-off marks, the top scorers in the UTME, and the most sought-after institutions.

JAMB 2024 Admission Cut-Off Marks

During the policy meeting held on July 18th, JAMB announced the cut-off marks for 2024 admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. Here are the details:

  • Universities: 140
  • Polytechnics: 100
  • Colleges of Education: 80

These cut-off marks serve as the minimum score that candidates must achieve in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for admission into these institutions. However, each institution can set its own higher cut-off marks for different courses.

Top Scorers in the 2024 UTME

JAMB has also disclosed the names of the top scorers in the 2024 UTME. This year, the highest score was 358, achieved by a student from Lagos State. Here are the top scorers:

  1. Oluwaseun Samuel (358) - Lagos State
  2. Chidera Okeke (350) - Anambra State
  3. Abdullahi Musa (347) - Kano State

These students have set a high benchmark for excellence in the UTME.

Most Sought-After Institutions in 2024

JAMB revealed the most sought-after institutions based on the number of applications received. These institutions are the top choices for many candidates:

  1. University of Lagos (UNILAG)
  2. Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)
  3. University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)

UNILAG remains the most preferred choice among candidates, followed closely by ABU and UNN. These universities continue to attract a large number of applications due to their academic reputation and extensive programs.

Admission Policies for 2024

In addition to the cut-off marks, JAMB has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent admission process. Institutions are encouraged to adhere strictly to the guidelines and policies set by JAMB to maintain the integrity of the admission process.

Candidates are advised to stay updated with their chosen institutions’ specific cut-off marks and admission requirements. It is crucial to regularly check the institutions' websites and JAMB's portal for the latest information.

Conclusion

The JAMB 2024 cut-off marks and admission policies set the stage for the upcoming academic session. Candidates who meet the minimum scores are urged to prepare for the next steps in the admission process. Congratulations to the top scorers and the most sought-after institutions for their remarkable achievements
