The House of Representatives has asked the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend its plan to make NIN mandatory for candidates who wish to apply for the UTME exam starting from 2020/2021.
According to IgbereTV, this NIN issue was raised by Zainab Gimba (representing APC, Borno) who called on JAMB to review the NIN policy on until 2021.
Zainab urged JAMB to review the timeline for the NIN policy implementation pending the establishment of more enrolment centres by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) across the country.
According to her, statistics from NIMC shows that less than 20 percent of Nigerians have actually enrolled for the NIN. She further expressed concern that,
