Short Put - JSS1 Physical and Health Education Lesson Note

Grip: The athlete should hold the shot put with their fingers behind the metal or plastic rim and their thumb underneath to ensure a stable grip.

Stance: The athlete should stand with their feet shoulder-width apart, the shot put resting on their neck and shoulder, and the throwing hand placed beneath the shot.

Put: The athlete should push off the ground with their legs, then extend their throwing arm and release the shot put.

Follow-through: After releasing the shot put, the athlete should extend their arm and rotate their body to retain momentum.
