Volleyball was invented by William G. Morgan in 1895.

The original name of volleyball was "Mintonette." It was created as an indoor sport that was less strenuous than basketball, providing a good workout for older members of the YMCA.

Each team has six players. The main objective is to send the ball over the net into the opponent's court, trying to make it touch the ground while preventing the opponent from doing the same.

A standard volleyball court measures 18 meters long and 9 meters wide. The net height is 2.43 meters for men and 2.24 meters for women.

Serving: Starting play by hitting the ball over the net from behind the backline.

Setting: Using fingertips to position the ball for a teammate to spike.

Spiking: Hitting the ball forcefully over the net into the opponent's court.
